Landed early in Toronto, perfectly timed well in advance of my meeting, so I could experience the amazing “Heaven on Earth” French toast I had eaten on my last trip. Look at this decadent, delicious dish (French toast made with challah brad, stuffed with blueberries, strawberries, a slab of cream cheese, bacon, honey and maple syrup) at Insomnia! This was hog heaven!

In the evening, I found my way to BakerBots for some great dessert. Of course I couldn’t decide, so I started with a slice of this amazing carrot cake.

Then had half of an ice-cream sandwich on an Everything cookie (two kinds of chocolate, pretzels, peanut butter and oatmeal) with their SJCB espresso ice cream and banana puddin’ ice cream.  Yummy!

The next day, I was able to stroll around a bit before my flight and saw some pretty sites.

Here I was at the beautiful fountain on University at Queens St. I wish I could tell you the name, but I only know the intersection.

This is the beautiful Queens Park and the Ontario Legislative Building.

Beast

Then, I made my way to some great food before my flight home. I had heard about Beast because of an Anthony Bourdain show, so decided it was a must and IT WAS/IS A MUST!  I started off with their famous Pistachio, Chocolate and Caramel Donut – wowee!  I couldn’t eat it all because I knew I had a very rich and decadent lunch coming to me.

For my meal, I went with the Beastwich (buttermilk biscuit, fried chicken thigh, pimento cheese, pork sausage gravy, and a fried egg served with house potatoes and mixed greens). This was a delicious heart attack on a plate that I would risk my life for again!  Every part of this was perfect!  The biscuit was moist, the chicken was juicy and crunchy, the flavors!!!  YUM!

Believe it or not, I did NOT have room for dessert. Well, I guess you could say my donut appetizer was my dessert.

Well, that’s a wrap for a quick, fun and delicious visit to Toronto. Until next time…
